Mitsubishi, Toyota and Nissan constantly compete for market share of their high-end luxury vehicles. Mitsubishi and Nissan are hard pressed to develop a vehicle that could match or exceed the quality and appeal of the Toyota Cresta. It has gained extensive popularity in the market place where other manufacturers luxury sedan models could not adequately compete against Toyotas Cresta. In todays market place the Toyota Cresta has evolved into the Verossa. It is also more fuel efficient and environmentally friendly than its processor.
The Mitsubishi Proudia is a luxury sedan which comes close to the luxury and dependability of the Verossa. It was introduced in 1999 and was tagged Mitsubishis newest ultimate luxury sedan. The Dignity was introduced during at the same time as the Proudia and was established as Mitsubishis luxury limousine for executives and businesses. All of these vehicles offered my Mitsubishi obtained some of the market share held by Toyota and Nissan, but because Mitsubishi started to experience financial troubles in 2000 the company stopped making the luxury sedans and limousines.
Although Mitsubishi continued to manufacture the Proudia its primary goal was to develop their compact and mid-sized offerings. This strategic decision was based on attempting to develop a vehicle which could compete with Nissan and Toyota similar vehicle offerings. Although this attempt by Mitsubishi was executed Nissan and Toyota continue retain the largest market share in these particular class of vehicles. Toyota continues to enjoy the lead they hold for the premier luxury vehicles.
